History of Trust & Safety Project

We launched the History of Trust & Safety Project to better understand and to document the growth, professionalization, practice, and study of trust and safety. As of early 2024, we’ve created and shared a free, public archive of more than 1,300 academic peer-reviewed sources covering topics relevant to T&S. Additionally, between June 2023 - July 2024, we conducted more than 60 interviews with a range of stakeholders about this history of T&S; this data will contribute to an empirical study published in an open access journal and made available to everyone. Stay tuned!

Edited Volume

We’re currently working with four co-editors and more than 30 contributors to produce an edited volume about the past, present, and future of T&S. In this book, we aim to bring to the fore the many facets that make up trust and safety, becoming the first unifying resource about T&S. With authors from different backgrounds and stakeholder groups, this edited volume will address some of the most relevant topics and areas for professionals working on, studying, or interested in T&S issues. More information about this project will be available in 2025.
